It's going to be a reality. Conferences members are not peers anymore.


Texas and Kansas State are not peers.
Alabama and Vanderbilt are not peers.
Clemson and BC are not peers.
USC and Wazzu are not peers.
Virginia and Louisville are not peers.

The big guns feel that they are carrying the conference financially, and they aren't wrong. And they are bigger guns than ever.

A top national conference of peers (mega football schools) might be in order. Not sure how this mega league will view Vanderbilt hanging around. LOL.

Sadly, just being the little engine that could who puts a decent and competitive team on the field might not be good enough anymore. A school like Baylor looks to be left behind even though they have a better football record than Texas in the past decade and just won a national basketball title. Sadly, it is not a meritocracy, that is for sure.
