of mustering up the votes to block. That is why they likely leaked it hoping to get support in the Oklahoma and/or Texas legislatures to block it. Whether the SEC initiated the process or UT/OU did this is a deal where neither party ever asks the question unless they already know the answer. Lost in all this discussion is what role ESPN played in this deal. People talk about why the SEC would do this after just signing a new deal with ESPN but, it could be this is a win/win for everybody. The SEC gets a stranglehold on being top dog. ESPN jettisons a financial albatross in the Longhorn Network, Texas saves face and all parties come out with an even stronger long term revenue outlook and negotiating leverage.
