Cotton loves sandy/loamy soil


Big reason you don't see much west of I-95.

Was down in NC a few weeks ago just north of Raleigh and saw a lot of tobacco being grown, especially where I'd seen corn in the past. No chickpeas that I could see.

Doubt you will ever see tobacco go away. Exports far outweigh domestic use at this point. Don't have nearly the health nut pressure you do in other countries as you see here.
