is impair judgment, right? Drunk people do things that they wouldn't do sober.

Then put an addict's brain, which likely has a messed up reward system that may not very good at assessing risks...and you have a recipe for what appears to most to be really irrational choices/behavior.

Not excusing it and not claiming any knowledge of TR's situation, but I've lived this and know lots of other people who have...it's really not as simple as you might think.
