I agree it doesn't mean a lot in the grand scheme of things because Mike's not going anywhere. This is his dream situation.

But in announcing the 3 year extension shortly after Mike Jones was hired, could it possibly be a message to say the program has long term stability, and that perhaps after that 3-year extension, Jones will be the next head coach so people can see a long-term plan of succession?

Or am I mixing apples and oranges with wishful thinking?
