I bet BYU has been studying Keely all morning. Trying to figure out tendencies and such from the games she pitched Thurs/Fri. But they haven’t seen a lick of Ozzy or Ivy. Surely they are expecting Keely.

We hear a lot about hitters adjusting to the pitcher the second and third time up at bat. Maybe you try to get Ozzy or Ivy to get through their lineup once, then switch to whichever one didn’t start for the second time through. Then they never really get adjusted. For sure, a short leash on both. If all goes well, maybe bring Keely in for the last few innings (if you need her).

Our bats have been great. We’re almost due for a clunker of a game at the plate. If that happens in Game 1 today, you’d obviously prefer to have Keely out there for us to counterbalance it. But if we can get 5+ runs, I’d like to think Ozzy and/or Ivy could hold the fort down. I think you want Keely in there at some point even if we are winking comfortably because workhorses generally need to (and want to) work as often as possible.

I just think we might be able to surprise them with Ozzy or Ivy and hopefully our batters would kind of feel an even greater sense of urgency to get us some runs early.

Just a thought. Trust Pete, whatever his decision is.
