It is clearly a dangerous virus to some ... but a very small 'some' and because of that I believe the reaction to this was horrible and, in many ways, more damaging than the virus itself. For example, most people I talk to (from far left to far right) believe that schools should have been opened many months ago - there was no 'data' to support keeping them closed. That was used as leverage to pass a massive bill with billions of dollars to open schools and the money won't even be available until late next fall!?!?! Not to mention there are still tens of billions of dollars for schools unspent from the previous COVID bill. That is one of many examples. So I firmly believe that "them" used this as an opportunity to do a whole bunch of stuff they couldn't ordinarily do, including severely limiting the freedoms of all Americans. It is amazing to me that so many Americans don't seem to care even though the math clearly doesn't support the decisions that have been made.

Clearly we will never agree on this topic but I have enjoyed the civil discourse - always good to hear the opinions of the other side. :)
