Ultimately both the American system and European system can learn from each other and make improvements.

I like a promotion/relegation system, so from that standpoint I prefer the European system. However, I also hate the lack of parity in the big domestic leagues over there. Ultimately the lack of parity is bad long-term, IMO.

If I could combine a salary cap/transfer spending cap with a promotion/relegation system, and the European system of developing youth prospects, then I'd be in sports heaven.

I'm a big admirer of the way the Scandinavian leagues are set up. For example, Sweden has a national law that prevents/limits foreign ownership investment. No foreign oil money coming into the country, which promotes parity. Four different Swedish teams have won the league over the last six years.
