Yes, a non-blueblood CAN do big things. But bluebloods still win the finals far more often than not and they still make the Final Four more. The top 15-20 programs or so have done as much or more than than the remaining programs in college basketball as far as championships.
There are probably 20-30 coaches who could win a natty at UNC (and probably a dozen or so who could do at least in the ballpark of how well Roy did). But what are the odds of say Butler going back to the Final Four sans Brad Stevens?
I mean, theres a reason the Porter Mosers and Shaka Smarts generally move on. They want a chance at a championship. Those odds are better at a blueblood or at least a school with vast resources.
