When I was working, I kept my land line for conference calls when

working from home, as my cellphone was not reliable in service or clarity of the connection (garbled, static, etc). Many keep landlines because of that, and/or cell phones are harder for more elderly to use, in general (and much of that might be because the phone is less familiar in operation vs their landline phone and they never learned/got use to the cellphone operation). My mom had one and never kept it charged and lost track of where she put it half the time.
