I'm kinda amazed how the market has turned

over the last ten years, HD is right about Amazon, killing the brick and mortar commodity market. Sorta strange because Nashbar and Performance were partly owned by Taiwanese bike companies (and they made pretty much all the lower cost bikes for quite a while) so you'd think they'd do alright w/the low cost angle and I guess they did for a long time.

the paradox is that with the places like Performance collapsing, companies like Trek are going old school by tightening up their branding (versus race to the bottom) through creating a network of bike shops tied to them.. Seeing some of that in other markets too. Oh yeah, those guys who find a screw for your bike and tell you don't worry about it? Long gone - I mean, I was willing pay for it - but that bike repair is more of a profit center these days rather than just an adjunct to sales.

I'm kinda finding that Amazon is not necessary the cheapest places these days so yeah do a search on the product you want. PS the last helmet I got was a Giro at Performance.
