They hired me to do ad composition, some page layout and run the


page layouts to press. I was assured it was $100/week for Monday-Wednesday, max of 30 hours, but it turned out to be a lot more hours and Monday-Friday. I was also given the titular manager role of the typesetter, crazy Edna and all the layout area activities. I asked for more $ and they made me a VP (my Dad was so proud) but that was just a company role, not corporate, and my first order of business as "ice man" they called it, was to let you go. Miserable lot of bastiges.

I left there and worked for 18 months at BS&T doing his ads for the RT and CT and then to a local graphics studio where I stayed until 1984 and moved here to CLT.
