That place was high on the list of bizarre employers in my life. It was


actually established to provide an opposing political base to those running the county at the time. It was bankrolled by a heavy equipment dealer in C'burg, a psychiatrist at St. Albans and a guy who sold mobile homes in the lot next to the paper's offices. That last guy tried to pawn his wife off on me - right in front of her - if I could wait another two weeks to get paid.

The political aspect never panned out for those derelicts because the paper almost immediately became mistakenly known as a counterculture publication.
