If players can point to this to show that even the ivory tower types don't the the old NCAA rules should apply, then why shouldn't they hold out for something better. That would add momentum to set up the football-only pseudo-NCAA. If that did happen, I imagine there would also be a push to add football-only teams to the big conferences in order to increase the value of the TV rights. That seems easier to do than adding all-sport members.
