2 reasons they aren't mandated. Exactly because of what he said AND the Airline lobby is strong and they don't want to discourage people with small babies from flying because they have to buy a 3rd ticket. They may choose to drive instead and they lose out on all the revenue.

I get your point, but flying IS safer than driving, and if we do have a plane crash, the overwhelmingly likely result is that we all die, not just one of us. I'm playing the odds there too.
