I went to my 8:00 class

Introduction to US History in what is now Litton-Reeves. My freshman year and I lived in Pritchard.

On the way to class I cut across what was then a pretty much open field adjacent to Cochrane Hall. Up until that very morning there was a very large tree in the field (possibly an oak). It fell over in the wind and rain about 50 feet ahead of me.

Professor in that section didn't provide those of us who showed up any extra credit at all. When we asked, he responded that he didn't want to "cheapen our virtue." The roof of the auditorium in that building (where our class was held) started to leak and someone actually came in and started mopping behind the professor as he lectured. We only found out that classes had been canceled as we were walking out from that one at the regular time.

Turned out to be a very fun and interesting day/weekend. I have several other boring stories related to it that I share pretty frequently.
