A lot of people thought that 5G would be the final blow to some of these traditional telecom companies that do not provide cell phone service. However the opposite might be true. 5G may be the thing that saves those telecom companies. The reason being 5G needs lots of fiber and the traditional telecom companies have for the most part a lot of fiber. So while these telecoms that do not provide cell service have taken a beating in the last 5 years with loss of traditional phone lines they are in a good position to grow revenue from 5G because the big 5G players will need the smaller telecoms fiber for the last mile to all these cell towers. Remember 5G cell signal does not travel as far as older generation cell tower traffic.
