I do. Witness stake only shows that the actual corner was found. Usually


Typically a rod. The witness stake (wood with a flag or z wire with a flag) just helps show where the iron pin (usually) is located +/= a foot or two.
Chisel marks in concrete or stone (think "x" mRks the spot.

Or a corner can be offsett (usually indicate on a plat) if corner is in a ditch, pavement or a creek.

Don't forget a corner may be in the middle of a lake, or defined by the center of a creek or river.
