However, if the ax starts swinging, everyone needs to protect themselves. My point above is that getting wrestling as close to breakeven as possible would help its argument if push comes to shove. I agree that it would be stupid to cut it, not only because it is VT's best team and has great momentum, but, as you said, it has a small facilities footprint and relatively low cost due to its small scholarship allotment (9.9) compared to other sports. The fly in the ointment could be Title 9. Men's soccer would be a more logical cut, as well as men's tennis. Soccer has a weaker fan base and tennis has a weaker program.
