I think what the fellow above you said tells the story


There has to be some desire to please or desire to believe built in there.

Full disclosure when I was in high school playing golf at a high level I saw a sports psychologist who taught me meditation techniques, which I understand is the same as hypnosis. He asked if I was interested in being hypnotized and I said sure, give it a spin, but by then I was already a skeptic, which may also explain why I thought it was a waste of time.
