1 added 2 gals of liquid Chlorine while opening last month Delmarva area. You are pissing $$$ on chlorine unless its a small public pool. There is no way I could imagine 20 gals of liquid chlorine...that will eventually cook your liner. Unless you have a concrete pool, c acid is not very helpful...and hardness and alkalinity are directly related to PH. You should get a few ounces and go to another tester. Laugh at them if they want you to add borate...which seems to be the new thing. The best advice I received when I put in the pool 5 yrs ago was from an old dude who said,
"remember, it's only water... you can't screw it up but so much". Best of luck to you! Ditch those strips and switch testers. You will save a ton of $$$
