It's somewhat reasonable to expect that mistakes will be made. Unfortunately given the seriousness of this particular issue, it's difficult to imagine what an acceptable margin of error might look like.

My feeble attempt at graciousness aside.....

This is a big deal. There is a major push within the public sector to make policy decisions based on metrics. That is practically impossible without good numbers (and beyond that point with the right -- or most relevant -- numbers).

Serving as Governor of Virginia is pretty difficult job under normal circumstances. But Ralph Northam certainly doesn't appear to be doing much to make it any easier on himself.
