A few answers

Top is made of 2x6's, edge jointed and glued up into a solid panel.

Re. getting the edges of the plywood to look normal...instead of glue-on edge banding, you could glue a 1/4-1/2 inch thick piece of wood that matches the plywood to the edges, then route your roundover into the wood. Kinda like the attached pic.

Regular table legs on each corner would be fine. Need to make sure they are connected by stretchers though, or it will be very wobbly. If mortise and tenon joinery is outside your wheelhouse, definitely get a Kreg pocket jig (those make REALLY strong joints, by the way).

As for the desk setup, I've got my 40 year old Bose 301's as my computer speakers on the floor, the thing attached to the underside of the top is an ultra cheap, but really nice amp (Lepai LP2020, under $30). I've also got an HDMI switch attached to the underside of the desk which toggles between the computer and the Roku source going to the monitor. Monitor is just a 32" 1080 HDTV hanging on the wall.
