Additional thoughts about those years

Gene Breen, who also played football, was a SC champion at heavy weight in '62. Gene is in the Tech Hall of Fame. Charles Callahan, another Granby product was a SC champion in '63 for sure, maybe '64 as well. Bob Bowman probably was awarded more varsity letters than anyone at Tech. He earned 8 for his four years in cross country and outdoor track as well as at least 3 wrestling.

VT dominated the 123 pound weight class from '59 through '65 with seven consecutive championships beginning with Bowman and ending with Henry Seymore in '65. Mike Grandstaff was the 123 pound champion in '61 and the 130 pound champion in '62.

Tech also had two champions in the Chattanooga tournament in '61 and three champions in
62.
