I appreciate his argument but completely disagree

Much of his argument boils down to "We don't have the complete data yet. Wait till it comes out before making decisions."

But there are times in life when you need to make a decision before the complete data is out. If you see your pilot walk into the cockpit slurring his words, do you wait for a breathalyzer to get off the plane? If you are camping and hear a loud growl with thumping steps, do you wait till the animal reveals itself, or do you get the hell out as fast as you can?

The #1 rule of life is survival. If you don't survive, what's the point?

If facing lack of survival, you make decisions before the data completely reveals itself. You have to. You do not wait.

What kind of decision do you make? You take the greatest amount of precaution possible. You over-react. After all, your survival is on the line.
