The economy has already been destroyed, IMO. It just hasn't...


...set in fully yet. I think the next 1-2 years are going to be really, really ugly. And I'm not saying that the measures taken so far weren't warranted...at this point I think everyone needs to focus on preventing the spread as much as possible and get things stabilized as quickly as possible...and we'll deal with the economic impact later.

Having said that, this virus isn't going away any time soon, and I'm curious when it will be deemed "safe" to begin operating under normal procedures. When will concerts and sports contests be allowed again? 3 months? 6 months? How will folks who can't work remotely make ends meet if they can't earn a paycheck for months at a time? The impacts of that will be huge, and will last much longer than the virus outbreak. Many families won't have any money for discretionary spending when they can barely pay their bills, which is going to crush a large sector of the economy.

I fear that this is going to drag out for a long time, and I'm concerned we may see the worst economic downtown many of us have ever experienced.
