To be fair, there was a time China was the next great market

Our company got into China in 1985, one of the first. We make and supply locally, can’t ship our products made in China beyond a few hundred miles. Anyway, it had so much potential, and we acquired more locations. But we never quite made money. Figured out China govt was supporting its state owned businesses, including those that competed against us. And then our global customers demanded we meet the Chinese company price, which we eventually couldn’t do, because we weren’t being subsidized by the govt. We sold our Chinese business in past couple of years. And now China is trying to send its state-owned businesses into the world, and continuing to subsidize them. Dirty pool, and American CEOs didn’t think any country would play this way.
