Given several facts (or clues), they'll focus on the one clue that aligns with their world-view, and ignore all the common-sense information that would disprove their wacky theory.

But with these types, there is always an answer. It usually involves some sort of comic-book scheme, and then they'll support *that* answer with another comic-book scheme.
