I'm basically eating two meals per day


But I do that when I'm not "on program." It's just a way of life.

Now one thing I'm doing that I believe helps me sleep better is to eat no snacks after dinner. Not even carb free snacks. I used to be a really light sleeper, but I'm sleeping much sounder now. Not sure if it's due to cutting back on carbs, or not snacking after dinner, but I'll put my money on the latter.

I've also heard of the "10 hour diet.". Basically you can eat whatever you normally do, but only eat start to finish for no longer than 10 hours during the day. People lose weight on this, and I think it's primarily due to cutting out evening snacks. That's why I stopped snacking after dinner when I'm "on program." Frankly I should continue this even when I'm "off program."

Just to be clear, there isn't a lot of difference between my "on program" and "off program" diet. I just allow myself more varieties of food and snacks "off," and tighten up my carb intake "on." My basic (base) diet really doesn't change much.

The single item that killed my previous weight loss gains was sugar. There are lots of bad decisions to be had for a chocoholic and a icecreamaholic. Started slipping those back into my diet...one a week, then two, then three... Snacking on peanuts didn't help.

My biggest "post diet" failure was not hitting the scales on a weekly basis. I should have jumped back "on program" once I saw myself trending back up. It's much easier losing 5 lbs than 40. Hope I don't forget that lesson again!
