I think you might have to treat this as a serious issue. If he has real anxiety then dragging him on the plane could be a disaster. Does he just have flight anxiety or is he anxious about other things too?
You don't have much time to deal with this but a few suggestions:
- explain to him the facts that thousands of planes fly every single day with no problems
- Try a distraction - like a Nintendo switch or some other gaming system
- Can you get a Xanax or klonopin for him - yes I'm serious. If you can't get him to be less anxious then what is the harm in a little medication?
OTC you can try some benadryl - which will make should make him tired.
