You are right about the bulk being on Thanksgiving weekend

At one point in time (maybe 10 years ago or so) "Rivalry Week" used to be last 2 weekends in November. If teams played their "rival" the weekend before Thanksgiving, then they didn't play a game Thanksgiving weekend. Personally I wouldn't be opposed seeing teams return to that scheduling format and allowing teams the option to have an Open Week Thanksgiving Weekend.
