Sitting here thinking about all the feasting on great games from Thursday to Saturday, from the Egg Bowl (Pissgate LOL) to the Territorial Cup (Pac12 After Dark). Plus, going to the Commonwealth Cup in person. And still, you can't watch them all.
I'm not sure if I even like my own idea here, but I think it would be cool to spread some of these games through the season. In fact, I think it would bring in more money. You could have a sponsor of the "Rivalry Series" and have a key rivalry game or two EVERY week. The Smith & Wesson Rivalry Series, or something.
NCSU-UNC, ISU-Iowa, GT-UGa, WSU-UW, UVa-VT, Clem-SCar, UK-UL, Ole Miss-MSU, Aub-UA, Mia-FSU, IU-Pur, UO-OSU, Stan-Cal, USC-UCLA, Mich-OSU, KSU-KU, UA-ASU, Wisc-Minn, OU-OSU, et al
Even some repeat teams: UA-Tenn, ND-USC, UM-MSU, OU-Tex, BYU-Utah, et al
Hey, and maybe pay out to bringing OOC rivals back: A&M-UT, Pitt-WVU, Pitt-PSU, Neb-OU, Miz-KU, et al
You could spread the games out (two per week) over the 14 or so weeks of the season.
Give the schools an incentive to move the games away from Thanksgiving weekend. Guaranteed national TV slot. Once you establish the Week #, you can keep it (like Bama-UT third weekend in October). This will also help some of the early season dog games weekends that are still out there. [Post edited by Maroon Baboon at 12/01/2019 3:01PM]
