Why does Richard Montgomery have so many counties named after him?


There's one in PA too.

Yes, he was a general in the Continental Army, but at this point he is almost forgotten by history. He'd be be pretty low on the list if the Family Feud question was Name a historical American military leader.

But back in the day he must really have been the shizznit for all these states to have named counties after him.
