Do you have any algae eater fish in the tank?

I had this problem with a 36 gal tank and added a small Plecos to the tank and the problem was solved but he grew to about 10" fairly fast. Has stopped growing at that size for a few years now. I first tried a Siamese Algae Eater but he did just did not eat enough to make much of a difference.

If you have less aggressive fish than you might consider a few of something smaller size, like snails or shrimp. Linked is a nice summary of the most common Algae Eaters.
