Title IX requires an effective balancing of athletic expenditures among the


men’s and women’s sports based on undergrad enrollment. U Va has potentially more Title IX issues than VT because its undergrad women are approx 60% of the undergrad enrollment whereas VT women undergrad are approx 40%. To add men’s lacrosse (we already have women’s) we would have to add probably 2 more women’s sports to be in compliance with Title IX requirements. Couple that with the lack of funding for two more women’s sports plus the men’s lacrosse program, it’s not in the cards.
