Had a similar experience with fertilizer at Home Depot.


I went to buy a bottle of the Miracle Grow "shake and grow" stuff for plants and garden. Picked up a bottle of the regular version and it was like $12.99 or something. Then I saw a just next to it a big display of the "organic" version for just $8.99. Same bottle size. I went to pick it up and it felt lighter having just held the regular version. Looked at the net weights of each and yep. 1/2 lb or so vs. like 1.5 lbs or so for the "regular". Totally deceptive. 1/3 the product in the same container. I'm sure plenty of folks fall for it. It's becoming prevalent in almost everything.
