It's funny, there is a whole article out there somewhere - sorry too


lazy to search for it - that includes interviews with military members picking apart the strategy based on the war room table from episode 2. in summary, they all say that stacking outside of the castle was dumb - force opponent through the gate where they are concentrated and can be killed, don't leave bran out in the open like that, use the dragons like warplanes (which they end up doing against plan) and like you said, if you have a high profile target, use smaller, more mobile squads for a targeted strike.
