My MSR Whisperlite would cover "cooking" for me...


But I really haven't used it for anything other than boiling water for freeze dried meals.

In the mean time, I'm going to work on creating my own freeze dried meals without shelling out $5-9/meal for pre-packaged food. Some meals are good, but others are definitely not worth that expense. Will look for (dried) items that will cook similarly to freeze dried meals, especially IRT time in the pouch. Will also look for reusable pouches to pack individual meals...something more substantial than ziplock bags.
