Hard to believe he was an 8-seed with a 28-2 record

I can see the top two being seeded ahead of him, but:
#3 Shields 30-6
#4 Wick 32-6
#5 Marsteller 28-3
#6 Massa 23-7
#7 White 25-9

But he smashed his way through that field to win it all!
