We have more quality players on the way
I'm not giving up on the true freshmen and sophomores John Sung has recruited. I agree that Petty is the most athletic and aggressive player we have but Sara Goodwin and Grace Nelson are future ACC first teamers. Tilley and Lohrer are also quality players. Sung only has 2 recruiting classes represented on this team. All the teams that we've lost to have head coaches who have been around from 6 (Colorado's) to 23 years (Duke's). John Sung inherited a massive dumpster fire and it will take a minimum of 4 years to get to where Sung wants to be (Top 10 program competing for ACC Championships). Sung has another good recruiting class coming in with 6 of the Top 150 players. Unfortunately for us, UNC, Duke, UVA, Notre Dame, and Syracuse have more of them than we do but those programs are strong in tradition and success. Sung will rarely get the recruits some of the bluebloods get. It seems like this is a problem with all of Tech's athletic programs. We rarely get the 5-star recruit and we always seem to struggle with team depth. There is hope for Sung with non-blueblood programs like BC and JMU playing at a high level.
