At the matches I've attended at VT, they've played a short intro video

on how matches are scored before the dual. That can help a little bit.

I'm including a link to a short YouTube video that explains some of the rules during matches.

For dual meets, the winner of each match gets 3-6 points for their team. You get three for most wins, but:

- if you win the match by 8-14 points, you get 4 team points for a "major decision"

- if you get a 15 point lead at any point during the match, the match stops and you get 5 team points for a "technical fall"

- if you pin your opponent, the match ends immediately by "fall" and you get 6 team points

If your coach protests a referee decision Mongolian-style by removing most of their clothes, your team will have one penalty point taken away from their team score. That can also happen for unsportsmanlike conduct by wrestlers (throwing headgear when they lose) or coaches (calling the ref an idiot while still fully dressed).

Hope you enjoy the match!
