This brave new world requires a couple changes in how you think about TV

First, channels are more or less gone, think apps, like on a computer or phone. The shows become content. When you want to watch something you use an app to watch the content it provides.

Second, start thinking more content based and less schedule based. Back in the old days (you know like a year ago), you either watched what was on or had to record it to watch it later. Now, the only real restriction is when the content will show up after it first airs on the schedule. Other than sporting events and local news for weather, I can't remember the last time I watched something new when it aired live.

I have a Roku smart TV and love it. I use Hulu live. I've heard complaints about it's interface, but I believe many of those are based on the fact that it is much more content centered rather than the old style channel listing guide we all became so used to. The biggest complaint I have is that when it opens you see a list of shows called the Lineup, which is really just the content they are being paid to push (welcome to new world order where content and distribution is owned by the same mega media companies).
