Yesterday, someone (apparently) created a fake gmail account for our


department head here at VT. That person then sent e-mails to several people in the department asking if they were available (the faker even created added a signature at the end of the e-mail which included the department head's title, chaired position, etc.).

When one gets an e-mail from a boss, executive, etc., and it's even mildly plausible asking for your cell number, it's pretty easy to go along with that part (with giving your cell number, not a credit card or sending money, etc.).
