I've made them at home and they turned out really well


Granted they were roasted in the oven, not an open fire.

And as said below, you have to weed out the ones with worms in them which isn't as easy as you'd think. I believe the worms get in before the outer part finishes growing so there may be no visible signs. I usually find out when I leave them on the kitchen counter before cooking, then find some grub looking things around and some of the nuts have holes in them. Kind of gross, especially when I didn't understand why, what looked like maggots were in my normally clean kitchen

But I like them and even used roasted some to use in a beer I made. Turned out well enough but I probably needed more nuts and to grind them up more
