I've done quite a bit of fishing in the lynnhaven area

The various species nearly year round make it a great choice. All the small inshore species as well as stripers, cobia, tautog, specks, spanish mackeral, blues, kings, on and on. All within a few miles of the inlet. I don't think the James would offer nearly the same although I haven't fished there.
