Good grief. Just get an iPhone and use duck-duck-go as your search engine

in Safari. I also use the apple (.icloud.com) account for my e-mail in apple’s mail app.

Sure, you pay a premium for the regularly updated more private and secure ecosystem. My trade off is I don’t pay for the newest phones. I currently have an iPhone SE that works very well (fast) that I paid $160 for new about a year ago. I will probably upgrade to an iPhone 7 (currently $550 new) this fall when the new phones come out. Apple will likely knock another $100 off at that time.
