For much the same reason, I get all my parts from O'Reilly's
Driving back from the Bama-VT game in Atlanta a few years ago. Car is overheating somewhere near Clemson.
Being the Sunday before Labor Day, NOTHING is open. Can't find a service station or car rental place within 50 miles that is open.
Finally find an O'Reilly's about a mile from where we pulled off. Explained the problem and they said it might just be the thermostat. They had a way to test if the thermostat was bad, but it would probably break it (but if it was bad, you would at least know that was the problem). It did, in fact, appear to be the thermostat.
Part is about $8. Then I ask if they have any tools I could borrow. One of the guys there said he had his personal toolbox in his truck. He then offered to just change it for me for $20 (cash, of course). Not that I would mind changing a thermostat, but I was wearing kinda nice clothes, so at that moment $20 was an absolute bargain.
So went from stranded on the side of the road in middle-of-nowhere-South-Carolina, to back on my way for $28.
So yeah, I get all my auto parts at O'Reilly's now.
