Rain-X fluid is an epic clusterflub for...

any vehicle that uses a two probe washer fluid level sensor with a current passed between the probes to sense fluid. It will coat the probes, insulating them and causing your washer fluid light to stay on permanently until you replace or clean the sensor. Been there, done that... annoying. One bottle of Rain-X and the sensor was jacked. These sensors are common on Audi, VW, Porsche and others. On my A6, you have to go in through the wheel well to get to the sensor. No thanks.

Fortunately, there is an easy fix. Empty all of the Rain-X onto your windshield, fill tank with 40 oz Isopropyl Alcohol and some hot water, drive around to mix it up a little and then wait a few hours. Voila... clean probes.
