I was having headaches for the past few days, which I never get, then yesterday blotchy spots showed up. Went to the doctor this morning, and it's shingles. From the top of the right eye back into my scalp about eight inches. I haven't been able to get more than a few hours of sleep since Sunday and the burning is getting more intense. This could last anywhere between two and eight weeks.

Then this sidebar...

Doctor tells me to go to the eye doctor ASAP since it's on my lid. My eye doctor is out of town so I cold call another, which was fantastic that I could get in on short notice. The eye doctor walks in and we both look at each other and know we know each other, but not sure from where. I have an idea, and the 20 questions start. After the 4th or 5th, I finally confirm how we know each other. We live across the street from one another. For over five years we have been able to stay distant enough to not recognize each other.
