Thoughts on a community mailbox for neighborhood of single family homes?

Been doing some house shopping lately in the Charlotte area and in many of the new build communities they no longer have mailboxes in front of each house. Instead they've gone to having one, or several, big community mailboxes where you need a key for yours.

That just doesn't seem right to me. If I have a house, I want my own mailbox in front of it. But maybe I'm being silly and overthinking it.
